TCHS Student Council announced, awards given

     Temescal Canyon High School’s Associated Student Body (ASB) Student Council members, led by Advisor Mavis Schutz, do much to create a positive high school experience for their fellow students, often without thanks or recognition. They work together to put on dances, pep rallies and other special events around campus, run the Student Store and, in general, help out wherever needed.
     On June 6, ASB Student Council members met at the Holiday Bay Room for their end-of-year awards ceremony and to announce the upcoming officers for 2005-06. The following students received special recognition in various categories.
     Jose Cruz was Most Outstanding Freshman; Amber Stenberg was Most Outstanding Sophomore; Stephanie Flores was Most Outstanding Junior and HeYoung You was Most Outstanding Senior.
     Cawaynna Wright earned Most Spirited; Jean Janssen demonstrated the Best Leadership Skills and Hien Thach was the Most Inspirational. Advisor’s Choice Awards went to Virgil Meakins and Brittany Cisneros, while the President’s Choice Awards went to Brittany Leite and Chris Meltzer.
     Recipients of the two-year leadership letter were Jonathan Arreola, Sean Richardson, Gunnar Rees, Amber Stenberg and Cawaynna Wright. Recipients of the three-year leadership letter were Katrina Arias, Stephanie Flores, Daniel Garber, Amber Gartelman, Virgil Meakins and Christopher Meltzer. Recipients of the four-year letter were Jean Janssen, Shawna Kim and HeYoung You.
     Student Council “Members of the Month” were listed as follows September, Katrina Arias; October, Breanna Murray; November, Hien Thach; December, HeYoung You; January, Amber Stenberg; February, Amber Gartelman; March, Staci Flores and April, Stephanie Flores.
     Students serving on next year’s Student Council are as follows. Chris Meltzer, of Canyon Lake, will serve as ASB president. Chris has been on Student Council three years and served as last year’s Junior Class vice president.
     ASB vice president is Frank Harris; ASB secretary is Katrina Arias and ASB treasurer is Gurbir Chahal.
     The Senior Class president is Stephanie Flores, of Canyon Lake. Stephanie has been on Student Council three years and last year served as the Junior Class president. Senior Class vice president is Nicole Winters and Senior Class representatives are Michelle Cleary (Canyon Lake) and Phils Sabordo.
     The Junior Class president is Amber Stenberg; the Junior Class vice president is Aryana Badery and the Junior Class representatives are Briana Montoya and Gunnar Rees (Canyon Lake).
     The Sophomore Class president is Staci Flores, of Canyon Lake. Staci has been on Student Council one year and last year served as Freshman Class president. The Sophomore Class vice president is Breanna Murray (Canyon Lake), and the Sophomore Class representatives are Lauren Hernandez, Sean McDonald (Canyon Lake), Julianne Nunez (Canyon Lake), Trenton Paddock (Canyon Lake) and Nick Tousseau (Canyon Lake).
     The Freshman Class representatives are Alexandria Bartolon, Gabrielle Bartolon, Steven Flores (Canyon Lake), Tiffany Mann (Canyon Lake), Allora Miranda (Canyon Lake) and Danielle Peters.
     The following Student Council members will serve as commissioners of various functions within the ASB: Michelle Field and Yadira Ihmud, Academics; Erica Paule (Canyon Lake), Activities; Chris Perez, Assemblies; Nick Vuong, Athletics; Noelle Winters, Clubs; Joy Fakhoury (Canyon Lake) and Caitlin Neal, Elections; Alexandra Sullivan (Canyon Lake), Environmentally Sound Campus; Valerie Valmores, Multi Culture; Lauren Kelly, Public Relations; Shannon Klie, Spirit; Carissa Campos, Special Projects; Brittany Leite and Hien Thach, Special Events; Sean Richardson (Canyon Lake), Student Store and Burt Copeland, Technical Services.
     Across town, at Elsinore High School, Canyon Laker Carlee Blakemore was elected Sophomore Class president, after serving as Freshman Class president last year.
