Spring Fling
     The Canyon Lake Choraleers, along with the Canyon Lake Cotillion dancers, will hold a spring concert at the Lodge on Sunday, April 6, at 3 p.m. Residents are invited to join them for an afternoon of music and entertainment. For more information, call 304-0457 or e-mail cindersoot1@yahoo.com.

Grad Night fundraiser
     Those residents who are into designers such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Juicy Couture, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany and Co. etc. will want to bring their family and friends to the Grad Night Designer Party on Thursday, April 3, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Temescal Canyon High School, in the 622 lounge.
     Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sales of designer-inspired handbags, jewelry, wallets, sunglasses, watches, men’s ties and more will benefit the TCHS Grad Night 2008.

Cornerstone School golf tourney
     Cornerstone Christian School is hosting a golf tournament on April 25 at the Links at Summerly in Lake Elsinore. A dinner and auction will be held at Cornerstone Community Church gym immediately following the tournament. The day includes a four-person scramble, tee prizes, a mulligan package and more. Elsinore rummage sale
     The Elsinore Woman’s Club will hold its popular rummage sale Wednesday, March 26, through Friday, March 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to noon. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund and charitable causes. The sale will be held in the clubhouse located at 710 West Graham Ave. in Lake Elsinore. For more information, call 674-3445.

Kindergarten registration
     Cottonwood Canyon Elementary School’s Kindergarten registration for the 2008/09 school year will take place on Wednesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 3, from 8 a.m. to noon in the school’s multipurpose room.
     Registration packets are now available in the school office. On registration day, parents should come prepared with all documents, originals and copies. Registration make-up days will be held on Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Fiesta Day program
     The Fiesta Day Committee is now accepting applications from businesses, clubs and organizations to advertise in this year’s event program. The 22-page program will include an entertainment schedule, event map and a “40 Years of Community Pride” feature. The cost to advertise starts at $25 for a business card size ad to $250 for the inside of the front or back cover.
     Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and the deadline to submit an application is May 5.

Travel show
     Canyon Lake Travel is hosting a travel show Sunday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot next to Guaranty Bank. The show is free to the public and will feature vendors from cruise lines and tour companies, a passport information booth and more, as well as a bounce house for the kids, music and popcorn.

Hospital volunteers needed
     Menifee Valley Medical Center is seeking hospital volunteers. Only four hours of volunteer service per week qualifies as an active member of the hospital volunteer team. No experience is necessary; training will be provided. The minimum age for volunteers is 16 years old. The next volunteer orientation is Thursday, April 3, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Cops for Kids Golf Tournament
     The 4th annual Cops for Kids Golf Tournament will be held Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at The Links at Summerly in Lake Elsinore. The tournament fee is $115 and includes golf, lunch, dinner, mulligans, drawing tickets, prizes and pictures. Cops for Kids was founded at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station over 10 years ago and now serves over 1,500 disadvantaged children.

Honoring military women
     The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club would like to honor women who reside in Canyon Lake or are related to women who reside in Canyon Lake and who have served in the U.S. military during the past 40 years. For more information contact Suzi Delia at 244-2911.

LEGS meeting
     A meeting of the Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society (LEGS) will be held Wednesday, April 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mission Trail Community Library, 34303 Mission Trail in Wildomar.
     Candy Petersen will speak about “Pioneer Minnesota Life.” LEGS meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month. A beginning genealogy workshop is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Computer Club
     The Computer Club of Menifee Valley welcomes all who have an interest in computers. Club members are generally seniors who want to learn about or increase their knowledge of technology.
     They meet at 9 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month and offer presentations, guest speakers, Q&A sessions, a computer lab and computer classes. It is a free club with no dues.
     Meetings are two hours long and are held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 29885 Bradley Rd. in Sun City.

Cornerstone activities
     Cornerstone Church often offers activities that are open to the public.
     The popular Barlow Girls will be in concert on Friday, April 4, at 7 p.m. This special concert will benefit Thessalonika Family Services/Rancho Damacitas, a provider of quality long-term care and treatment for children who need out-of-home services. 
     The cost is $20 for floor seats and $15 for balcony seating. Tickets are limited and can be ordered by calling 302-7597.
     Men who are skilled in tennis are invited to join a new men’s tennis team. to compete locally in the men’s USTA 3.5 league. Participants must be available on Saturdays and a member of USTA. The cost is $21. For more information, call 600-2947.

Dance donations wanted
     The Canyon Lake Middle School PTSA 8th Grade Dance Committee is looking for donations for its annual 8th Grade Promotion Dance. ‘Operation Recognition’
     Canyon Lake men and women who joined the military before receiving their high school diplomas will have the opportunity to go through a graduation ceremony, thanks to a program being offered by Riverside County Office of Education (ROCE).
     “Operation Recognition” allows residents of Riverside County who missed completing high school because of military service in World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War – or because of interment in WWII Japanese-American relocation camps – to receive high school diplomas. Sponsored by ROCE with assistance from the Riverside County Department of Veteran’s Services, diplomas will be awarded at a ceremony on May 21.
     An application can be submitted by a family member or qualified individual and is available by calling 826-6570.

Bosom Buddies
     Bosom Buddies is a volunteer support organization dedicated to helping women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Women receive support and resources from other breast cancer survivors. Bingo
     The Canyon Lake Lions and Lioness Clubs host Bingo on the first and third Sundays of each month starting at 1 p.m. and ending at approximately 4 p.m., in the City Hall Multi-purpose Room.      Spring water polo registration
     Registration for boys and girls ages 8 to 18 is now being taken for CHAWP’S spring water polo session at Temescal Canyon and Lakeside High Schools. No water polo experience is necessary; however, participants must be able to swim. Online registration and more information on other pool sites, days and times can be found at www.chawp.com. Trauma training
     Trauma Intervention Programs Inc. (TIP), a non-profit organization, is looking for men and women to be part of a unique team of Crisis Responders, trained to provide emotional and practical support to victims immediately following a tragic event. No experience is necessary. TIP volunteers are called to emergency scenes by police, firefighters and hospital ER personnel in Canyon Lake, Hemet, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, Perris, Sun City, Temecula, Wildomar and surrounding areas.
     Training classes will begin Wednesday, April 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. The course consists of five weeknights from 6 to 9 p.m., one Sunday and two Saturdays, 9 a.m. to mid-afternoon, with graduation at 6 p.m. on April 19.

Cookbooks still available
     The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club still has copies of its cookbook, “Tastes of Paradise,” a creative gift for friends and family. The cookbooks are on sale at Pack, Wrap and Post in the Towne Center or by calling Rita Wacker at 244-1881, Barbara Weatherman at 244-1618, Audrey Barrows at 244-5550, Barbara Duncan at 244-7513 or Sherry Attig 244-5378. The price is $20; proceeds benefit the Woman’s Club’s philanthropic endeavors in the community.

Donate a mammogram
     The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on its site daily to meet its quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to the site, www.thebreastcancersite.com and click on “donating a mammogram” for free (pink window in the middle).
     This doesn’t cost one a thing. Corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
