Letter: Railroad Canyon Rd. widening Editor, The Friday Flyer: Does anyone care? I have to wonder if any of our residents ask the same question I do when they drive by – is this project widening Railroad Canyon Rd. ever going to be finished? This roadway has been tied up forever and no work has been done for a very long time. I know this because I live against the project. We’ve heard all kinds of excuses – none of which were true. The builder, like many others, has run out of funds. This is from the Riverside County Transportation Department. My next question is what about the Completion Bonds that are always obtained with a project of this nature? I was told there were bonds but apparently there’s no rush. Help! We need e-mails and/or letters to the Riverside County Director of Transportation, Juan Perez, jcperez@rctlma.org or 4080 Lemon St. 8th Floor, Riverside, CA 92501. Please help us show we are a concerned community and it is an urgent matter of public safety that this winding one-lane each way with a k-rail in the middle is unacceptable. Take a minute. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a good, safe highway to travel on from one freeway to another. If we don’t make an effort this could stay like this for a very long time. M. Shaffer |
