The weather cooperated providing one of the nicest Walker Tournament golf days that can be remembered by Walker family members, who served refreshments on the course during the tournament. Family members serving were Gary and Esther Forshey, Jody Ritter and Betty Walker, who served her infamous Bloody Mary on the 15th hole. Nita Walker and her mother assisted in the clubhouse decorations. Terry and Inga Loy and Curt and Dianne Schneider provided scoring results and skins. Prior to play the women had a blind draw for a partner. Their score and that of their partner were added together at the end of the day to determine the winners for the couple’s trophies. First place went to Dick Taylor and Cheryl Ritsema; 2nd place went to Ken Bishop and Bonnie Harlow in card-off; 3rd place went to Terry Loy and Dottie McClanahan. Other money winners were 4th place Pat Walker and Gerry Meeks, 5th, Bob Henderson and Barbara Albrecht; 6th, Joe Washle and Barbara Weatherman; 7th, Lee Arth and Lila Gann; 8th, Vern Hand and Linda Hudson; 9th, Chuck Hudson and Ellie Clow; 10th, Bob Stinson and Maxine Whalen in card-off. The men’s low gross trophy was awarded to Terry Loy who beat last year’s winner, Bob Stinson, by one stroke. Patti Miles captured the women’s low gross again this year. Prizes for closest-to-the-pin were awarded for each flight: Vern Hand on 2, Pat Walker on 11, Patti Miles on 15, Cheryl Ritsema on 8 and Inga Loy on 17. Men’s skins were awarded to Vern Hand, Curt Schneider, Lee Arth and Pat Walker. Women’s skins were awarded in A Flight to Alice Ramirez, Dianne Schneider, Marina Stinson, Julie Faia and Jody McConville (who won two.) B Flight winners were Kathy Walker, Helen Sullivan Jackie Taylor, Barbara Albrecht, Lorrie Cobb, Barbara Weatherman and Carol Newsom. The day concluded with dinner at the Country Club, which included a champagne toast to Pat and Kathy Walker on their 33rd anniversary. |
