Near and Far with The Friday Flyer: Family reunion in Oahu

     The Hemm family, Dennis, Mika, David and Noah, traveled to Waikiki Beach, Hawaii over the holidays to celebrate Mika’s parents’ 30th wedding anniversary. Several other family members joined them for the celebration, including Mika’s brother and his family, who traveled from Japan. It was the first time in 10 years the family had all been together. Noah (picture holding The Friday Flyer) designed the matching T-shirts everyone wore for the reunion.
     Their trip got off to an interesting start when the whole island experienced a blackout on their first day there. Nevertheless, they say they enjoyed escaping the chilly California weather with snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiking at Diamond Head Park, going on an island tour, golfing, shopping and eating.
