City Connection: News and Notes

Titans prepare to take on Southwestern League
Last Friday, October 9, the Temescal Canyon High School Titans celebrated homecoming, a star-studded event with the theme of “Classic Hollywood.” While many were focused on the homecoming court and floats parading around the field at halftime, the football teams were ending their pre-season play hoping to put an additional win on their records. That’s just what the freshmen and varsity teams did against Hemet High School.

Former Teen Reporter has a blast from the past at homecoming
Temescal Canyon High School hosted Alumni Night on Friday, October 9, as well as the homecoming game against Hemet High. As many might know, I once was the Teen Reporter for The Friday Flyer, as well as a Titan football player. The irony of the situation is that I now attend Hemet High. Nature through window better than television
The explosion of feathers was neatly framed by my south facing window one morning in early spring this year. I was looking out the window (from my Lazy Boy), checking my wind gauge (the leaves and branches of a neighbor’s tree up the hill) when high drama exploded in mid window frame; a mourning dove and a hawk came together in a tableau in perfect harmony with nature’s predator-prey design.

Movie Reviews by Reel People: 'Capitalism: A Love Story' is a nightmare on Wall Street
Where is Joe McCarthy when you need him? Michael Moore is attacking America again. Is he or has he ever been . . . you know? Moore is so repugnant; it’s really okay to kill the messenger, figuratively speaking anyway. But, if after seeing this film, you become a Marxist, you have other problems. Come on, this is like getting mugged by a clown.
