Another view

This isn't a repeat of the balloon landing on Boating Way, but just another view of the September 26 landing, captured by Colleen Smith. It's a reminder the colorful balloons attract attention wherever they're seen, not just at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, reported by Ken Cable in this week's Balloon extravaganza article.

“It happened most unexpectedly, following a short bike ride from my home up to the high school on a beautiful Saturday morning in June 1965. I was 9 years old. What is it about the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol?” It has been filmed dozens of times and featured in hundreds of theatrical productions. Carrey also plays a half dozen other characters in this story, so we hope he snapped a group picture of himself. All-righty then!

Mom About Town: Mom lists a few of her favorite things
Dont get me wrong: Im no shopaholic. I am actually quite thrifty and I try to buy carefully and use up what I have before I buy more. However, when that moment comes when the bottle runs dry or the box is empty and it is time to buy more, I relish the moment I get to purchase something new and exciting. Even a new formula of window cleaner is enough to get me going, and dont get me started on mascara and all the wonderful new variations that seem to hit the market on a daily basis.

Cook's Corner: Try these treats for 'no forks allowed night'
When something familiar is used in an unfamiliar context, it instantly becomes fresh, new and somehow more appealing. In my previous column, we briefly touched on starters.
