Taking time to remember
Canyon Lake is a community that seeks to honor its veterans and service members at many of its public events. City Connection: Be wary of crimes of opportunity during holidays
Time is coming for families to come together for the holidays; we will all be heading out to do a little extra shopping, some of it at night. As we make our way to the malls and shopping centers, let’s take a little extra time to prepare ourselves to be mindful of our surroundings, parking in well-lit areas, locking our cars and hiding those items that may tempt someone to steal.

City Connection: Disaster drill volunteers are needed
The Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee has scheduled a Disaster Drill on Wednesday, November 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Multi-purpose Room. This drill will acquaint volunteers in performing a “Drive-by Windshield Survey.”

Movie Review: 'This is It'
If you want to see the greatest concert that never was, this is it. If you’re a fan of Michael Jackson, a fan of music or just want to be entertained, this is it. Given the King of Pop’s bizarre behavior over the last several decades, our expectations were extremely low. But here he is different. Actually, he’s always been different; but now different in a good way.

Mom About Town: Light a candle, set a timer for crisis cleaning 101
Despite my best efforts, sometimes my house just seems to get out-of-control messy overnight. It makes sense that this would occasionally happen. I am the only neat-nick in the house, so I am outnumbered three to one by messy people, and I only have two hands and a limited amount of energy in any given day.

The national census will be taking place this year. I received a call from a resident about some suspicious activity on the part of a woman holding out to be with the Census Bureau.

Letter: Health club and dog park
There are two amenities that would serve a large part of our community. Unlike the infrequently-used tennis courts, Frisbee-golf course and bocce courts, not to mention the privileged Equestrian Center, a health club and dog park would be very communal and extremely well used.
