Here's a look back at Canyon Lake in 2009
Here is a brief review of some of the events that took place in Canyon Lake in 2009.
City Connection: State of the City 2009
The year 2009 was not the greatest year in Canyon Lake. The economy took its toll as well as the dissension on the City Council. Good news is the lawsuit over access to the Lake is resolved and we won! Speaking of the Lake, additional good news is that we don’t have any quagga muscles; the bad news is we’re constantly fighting water quality issues.
City Connection: Crime Stats
City Connection: Library - All fired up
Ceramics to Go held a well-attended workshop for the Library in the City Multi-purpose Room on December 16.
Chamber Notes
The January Chamber luncheon will be held on Wednesday, January 13, at 11:30 a.m. in the banquet room at Pepe’s Restaurant. The cost of the luncheon is $13. Reservations can be made by calling the Chamber office at 244-6124. The reservation deadline is Monday, January 11.

Movie Review: 'Sherlock Holmes'
Robert Downey Jr. set out to recreate the classic sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, but instead delivers, well, something else. Often clever, but never wise, this smug action figure is skilled in mixed martial arts and loaded with an arsenal of one-liners. Basil Rathbone rolls over in his grave, but today, a one trick pony just can’t generate the big bucks.
Letter: Dining Room Credit
Randy Helton’s letter (“Fix the Lodge,” December 25) states that he “also likes the idea of assessing each home $100 to reopen the restaurant.”
Letter: A thank you to Marty
Marty Gibson does it again. This is to thank Marty, his brother Tom and all the staff and customers at Pepe’s for the surprise birthday party for my 82nd birthday on December 21.

2009 - The Year of Transition
Change has been witnessed in Washington D.C., the City of Canyon Lake and the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association (CLPOA). In my recent experience as President and CEO, I have found that some people have confused what is diligent oversight of day-to-day operations with micromanagement. It is a fundamental management philosophy to delegate authority, but not responsibility.

ACCording to the ACC: Setback definitions
The CC&Rs call for front, side and rear setback restrictions for all lots. Each numbered lot also includes a Community Setback, defined as the area between the curb line and the front line.
