Storm brings raging waters

The rain started falling a week ago Friday, gently for a couple of days, but then with more intensity. Before it was over Wednesday evening, December 22, it had claimed the life of a driver, apparently swept from Goetz Rd. into the East Bay by Salt Creek's current across the roadway. All around the Lake, muddy, roiling water inundated seawall decks and wrecked havoc with docks that weren't adjusted fast enough to keep up with the rising water. EVMWD spokesperson Jose Carvajal snapped this shot of water pouring over the dam at a rate of 766 million gallons per day and more than two feet above the spillway level. For most Canyon Lakers, the annual Parade of Lights provides a few minutes of pleasure each December, and then is forgotten for another year. For those who participate by putting a boat in the parade, it’s another story. No sooner has the last light on their displays winked out and inflatable toys deflated than they are thinking about next year’s project.

Movie Reviews by Reel People: 'Black Swan'
