Big Band Bash
     The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild will present Kevin Mayse and his Big Band, along with vocalist Cassie Miller, on Saturday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at the Lodge.This is a return engagement for the group. Cassie has been the female vocalist for many well-known big bands, according to spokesperson Joan Salazar, who says,
     “Cassie’s glowing stage presence, combined with her love of music, transports the audience back to the swing era of the 1940s. She brings this gift to every performance.” The Lodge bar will open at 6 p.m. and also will be open after the performance. Refreshments will be served following the show.

'High School Musical'
     Canyon Lake Middle School students, at left, are busy rehearsing for their upcoming musical. They will be performing Disney’s popular “High School Musical,” at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 19, and Saturday, March 20, in the school’s auditorium. Tickets go on sale on March 15 at the school office and are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Jazz Under the Stars
     The Temescal Canyon High School Band will be accompanied by the Riverside Community College Band in hosting an evening of “Jazz Under the Stars” on Friday, March 19, at 6 p.m. at TCHS. Residents are invited to enjoy a relaxing evening of dinner, jazz music and a silent auction fundraiser.
     Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens. Children 5 and under are free. Pre-sale tickets are available by calling Karyn Raymer at 813-5979. Tickets also may be purchased at the door.

Art on the Green
     The Canyon Lake Art Association will hold an “Art on the Green” Art Faire on April 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Country Club. Canyon Lake artists interested in exhibiting for the event are invited to e-mail js92530@verizon.net for registration details. For more information, call 244-1674.

Peter Pan
     Temescal Canyon Spotlight players will present “Peter Pan” on May 13 to 15 and May 21 to 22 at the Temescal Canyon Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. For tickets and additional information, call 265-9755.

‘Pirates of Penzance’
     The classic Gilbert & Sullivan Comic Operetta, “The Pirates of Penzance” under the direction and choreography of San Diego favorite Ray Limon and starring Richard Bermudez, Karenssa LeGear, Randall Dodge, Sue Goodman and Bart Williams, will run from March 11 to May 2.
     The “Pirates of Penzance” is a hilarious and frenetic romp featuring swashbuckling, handsome pirates, beautiful maidens and bumbling Keystone Cops.
     Show times include matinees at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and evening shows on Thursday and Saturday. An optional brunch buffet is available at 10:30 a.m. for the matinee. For tickets or more information, call 888-802-7469, or visit www.welktheatresandiego.com.
     The Beatles tribute band, Abbey Road, will perform at the Welk Theater on Sundays from March 14 to April 18, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children and may be purchased online. The theater is located at 8860 Lawrence Welk Dr. in Escondido.
