Not true. Research has shown that a fish taken from a bed and released elsewhere will almost always find another bed and another male to hook up with. That came from the University of Florida. Think of this, to keep a population stable, a female only has to produce two offspring – one to replace her and one to replace a male. Not every year but once. I’ll bet the females in our Lake do better. To accuse the Bassmasters of not caring about our Lake and the fish in it is ridiculous. Remember the fish kill? It was the Bassmasters who were moving fish from the Main Lake to safer water in the East Bay. Didn’t see Skip out there. Well, we did have our tournament and we caught a bunch of fish. Very few were females and I didn’t see any that were full of eggs. All went back into the Lake healthy. The last thing Skip left on the message was that these kinds of things are why he and his friends won’t join the club. We are okay with that. Mike Wiley |
