ACCording to the ACC: Dumpsters, PODS and roll-offs

     Are you or someone you know moving? Arguably the hardest part of moving is tackling the garage and some of the interior, over-used closets. That’s the time many folks start thinking it’s time to order a dumpster or a POD to get oneself cleaned up and organized. Most of these containers are easily stored on the driveway or member’s property.
     If any such storage container is “dropped” on a member’s property, an ACC permit is not usually required. As a courtesy to neighbors, however, the ACC does ask that each member notify neighbors of potential parking issues; for example, an excessive number of cars parked at the curb, which doesn’t allow neighbors space in front of their homes, or blocking the neighbors’ view to enter and exit their driveway safely.
     To satisfy the aesthetic requirements of the department, the dumpster, POD, etc. should leave the property within two weeks.
     If a “roll-off,” POD or dumpster of any sort must be placed in the street due to topographical problems, a permit must be issued from the ACC. Dimensions of the unit, reason for and length of time requested must be clearly stated on the application.
