Arts and Entertainment

Arts and Entertainment: Take a 'Sentimental Journey'
Over the years, the Canyon Lake Community Theatre audiences have been carried Over the Rainbow to Oz, heard the hills come alive with the Sound of Music, winged their way to Neverland, ventured Into the Woods and, most recently, danced all night in Victorian England. The CLCT members now invite their friends and neighbors to buy a ticket for a “Sentimental Journey” and be swept back to the big band era to a time when swing music was king and romance was its queen.

Movie Reviews by Reel People: 'The Bounty Hunter'
Create a rom-com (romantic comedy) without much rom and even less com, and you’d have “The Bounty Hunter.” But, include Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler and Christine Baranski, and you could maintain a level of audience interest. Butler and Aniston carry all the chemistry of Fred and Wilma, but not many will be yelling “yabba dabba doo!”

Day Tripping with Mary: A flower-filled day - this one's for Mom
I would like to dedicate this column and day to my mom, Joann Breithaupt, who loved flowers, gardening and the beauty of life. A rainbow of colors greeted us as we entered the Flower Fields of Carlsbad on a sunny, warm March day. Rows of pink, yellow, orange and red buttercup type flowers called ranunculus are spread across 50 acres of hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

How wonderful was the Niners Golf Club’s celebration of life party for Casey Dean. She would have been so pleased and honored by all the people who showed up at the Country Cub.

Letter: Paul will get things done

Letter: Chuck worthy of support
There’s an old golf saying that goes like this: “If you really want to know a person, play golf with him.” Somehow, the golf game brings out the good, bad and the ugly. It often reveals interesting information about a person’s character.
