City Connection: 'Dump the Pump' June 17

     Just in time for the summer gas price surge, the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) will give away free bus passes to a limited number of passengers who ride on the national Dump the Pump Day, June 17.
     Customers simply send RTA their validated Day Pass, 7-Day or 30-Day passes showing they rode on June 17 and they will be entered in the drawing for a free 1-Day or 30-Day pass. Passes for the drawing should be sent to P.O. Box 59968, Riverside, CA 92517-1968, Attention Dump the Pump Contest. Passes must be received by July 30.      Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the fifth annual Dump the Pump Day is designed to encourage people to save money by leaving their cars at home and riding public transportation. According to the latest APTA Transit Savings Report, individuals in a two-person household can save an average of more than $9,000 annually by downsizing to one car.
