Kids Fishing Derby needs sponsors, contributions

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters will host the 24th annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, August 14, at Holiday Harbor, for Canyon Lake residents and their guests ages 5 to 15.
On the day of the event, registration will take place from 6 to 8 a.m.; children must register prior to fishing. The weigh-in is between 11 a.m. and noon. From noon to 1 p.m. hot dogs, chips and water will be provided to registered participants. An awards ceremony and a drawing for prizes will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Historically, the event has offered a large number of prizes from local businesses.
This event usually draws between 200 to 300 children, so to avoid long lines at the registration table, it is recommended that participants fill out this early registration form and mail it to the address at the bottom of the form.
The Bassmasters will supply some bait (while supply lasts); however, children should plan to bring their own fishing poles and favorite baits. Participants can weigh-in three fish from each species except bass: three catfish, three carp, three bluegill and three crappie. All participants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Remember, no bass allowed at the weigh-in.
Due to current economic conditions, Bassmaster funds for this event are slim. For more information or to become a sponsor, Call George Cobb at 244-7242 or Jon Evans at 244-5948. All donations are tax deductible.
