Arts and Entertainment: 'Bugsy' opens at Lodge next week The Canyon Lake Community Theatre’s children’s production of the pie-flinging, pinstripe-wearing, pint-sized classic, “Bugsy Malone Jr.” is coming to the stage of the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge next weekend. Long time CLCT member and Inland Theatre League Award winner Tara Miller is directing this roaring ’20s extravaganza, which will be held at the Lodge the last weekend of July.
“Originally written for children, ‘Bugsy Malone Jr.’ is a wonderful showcase for talented young performers, with a catchy, swinging score by the composer of The Muppet Movie,” says Tara. Many people may recognize the song, “Ordinary Fool” which has been performed on recordings by Karen Carpenter, Ella Fitzgerald, and Mel Tormé. The song “You Give a Little Love” was featured in a Coca Cola Super Bowl advertisement.
Show dates are Friday, July 30, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 31, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, August 1, at 1p.m.
Tickets may be purchased at the POA Member Services counter or by calling 403-0639.
