Cotton sky

Most days of the year residents enjoy waking up to blue skies and sunshine. But with fall just 12 days away, the clouds are starting to move in. These cottony clouds backed by a bright blue sky hovered over Canyon Lake long enough for Roy LePoidevin to capture their reflection in the Lake.

Movie Reviews by Reel People: 'The American'
It doesn’t get much better than seeing George Clooney in an international action thriller. But when the movie is reduced to “see George walk, see George mope, see George stare into space,” this is not what we expected. George offers a very subtle portrayal verging on boring. But, it’s the great Clooney, so let’s go with “subtle” for now.

Letter: POA salaries
Regarding our POA employees salaries/benefits, they are, in many cases, comparable to very large multi-million/billion dollar companies, whose management has years of formal education and training.

Letter: Coffee with the Mayor
I have been attending the mayor’s meeting (Coffee with the Mayor) for some time and have been impressed with the openness and the flow of information.

Letter: Scathing letter
Someone needed to respond to Guy Kestell’s scathing letter regarding Randy Bonner. While president of the POA, Randy Bonner’s decisions were always made with respect to and in the best interest of the residents of Canyon Lake.

Letter: Keep golf pro
Currently, a large number of our elected officials, from the federal level all the way to our local POA, have failed to listen to the majority of voters. I now ask our POA to please set a precedent by listening to your fellow Canyon Lakers and vote to keep Dave Lindeman as our golf professional.

Letter: Situation appalling
What kind of show is the POA Board running? I am not a golfer; however, I find the manner in which the POA is handling this golf pro situation appalling.

Letter: Treatment shameful
I wonder how the people who feel that a RFP is an acceptable means to handle employee contracts would feel if the same was done to them?  Imagine you held your job for 20 years, and deemed to be doing it well, only to find out that a few disgruntled individuals who simply don’t like you were using their political connections to have you replaced?
