Autism survey
City Councilwoman Mary Craton is representing Canyon Lake on the new Southwest Regional Task Force on Autism, a committee made up of elected officials from each city in the area. To help provide for the needs of families with autistic children, she requests that residents with autistic children call her at 244-7859 or e-mail mcraton@cityofcanyonlake.com. All information will be confidential. She is trying to determine how many families with autistic children are in Canyon Lake, what problems they are facing, insurance issues and support networks, if any.

Dial 211 for info
The City of Canyon Lake entered into an annual service agreement with 211 Riverside County, a nonprofit agency, to provide residents with toll-free local information and referrals to social services.
Canyon Lake residents in need of a link to social services can dial 2-1-1 free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The 211 operators provide callers with contact information and referrals to local nonprofit agencies and programs best matching the caller’s needs.
211 Riverside County, established in 2005, strives to meet the needs of residents by providing an easy access point to local nonprofit services—simply dial 211.

East Gate open
East Gate businesses got the support of the City and County with new signs indicating the businesses can still be accessed via the East Gate and the Normandy Rd./Goetz Rd. detour. Goetz Rd. still connects with Railroad Canyon Rd. for traffic traveling westbound. Drivers leaving through the East Gate to go eastbound will still go on Normandy (old Newport Rd.) to get to Sun City and Menifee.
The Newport Rd. detour is expected to be in effect for more than a year, so residents are encouraged to support fellow Canyon Lake business owners when the opportunity arises.
