“Even though it seems like a long way away right now, it is really the right time to start planning how you will decorate your boat. The warm water and warm days make it easy and fun to do your initial measurements and planning,” says Dennis. “Your boat (float) does not need to be fancy – just decorated with lights and containing a crew that is enjoying the holiday season,” Dennis adds. “You say you are not sure how to put lights on your boat or how you might decorate it? Let the Yacht Club help.” On Wednesday, November 3, at 6 p.m., there will be a “boat float” decorating workshop in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. The topics that will be covered are: • Types of boats • How to decorate • Lighting plans • Generator usage • Wattage planning and considerations • Fastening and securing devices • Framework layout • Attachment of superstructure to boat • Hinge ideas to make sure boat can get through the tunnel. “Come and join us for a fun evening,” says Dennis. “We are expecting some of the past award-winners to also be in attendance to share some of their float decorating ideas. This should be the year to have your boat in the annual Parade of Lights!” The Yacht Club reminds residents who need a little more motivation there will be cash awards for winners of the various classes of floats entered in the parade. Starting in mid to late October, entry forms for the Parade of Lights will start appearing in The Friday Flyer. |
