Because of a venue conflict, the 7th annual Lioness/Lions Western Barbecue Hoedown has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 30, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Holiday Harbor. The popular band, Palomino Express, will provide music for dancing and listening pleasure.
Canyon Lakers, their friends and families are invited to enjoy a dinner of chicken and ribs, coleslaw, barbecued beans, salads, cornbread and dessert for a $25 donation. A full bar will be available, including beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks. Attendees are asked not to bring their own liquor, as this is a violation of the club’s one-day liquor permit.
Tickets are available from any Lion or Lioness, or by calling Joanna Spiller at 244-1553. Tickets must be purchased in advance and the deadline is October 20. Tables of eight to ten can be reserved. Drawings will be conducted during the evening.
“This is an opportunity to support the Lioness and Lions Clubs in their continuing efforts to help others in our community, our nation and throughout the world and enjoy a great event with friends at the same time,” say Lioness President Joanna Spiller and Lions President Phil Coughlin.

Auditions to be held

It will once again be a Hollywood Bowl-style concert, at which people will be invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to listen to performances of songs by the chosen composer – this year, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. The program is scheduled for September 25.
“The Moonlight Amphitheatre at Indian Beach is the perfect setting for an evening of spectacular music and a beautiful way to close the summer,” says Tara Miller, organizer of the event.
