Letter: Acknowledge past mistakes

Honesty, please! Last week’s The Friday Flyer included the Canyon Lake POA Annual Report. In that report were letters from each committee chair summarizing their committee’s activities during the past year. I am chair of the Technology Committee and there was a letter included that I supposedly wrote.
The letter printed, was not the letter I wrote. Though the letter I wrote was upbeat and positive, it also included a reference to mismanagement of the “Katana” software development project. The reference to “mismanagement” was taken out of the letter included in the Annual Report.
The people of Canyon Lake are not stupid. Anyone interested in POA governance knows the Katana project was a disaster. My letter attempted to acknowledge that significant mistakes were made but we are moving in a positive direction. No one will ever believe the people running this place are telling the truth unless we acknowledge mistakes of the past.
