In Memoriam: Norman Ronkainen

Longtime resident Norman Elville Ronkainen went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2010. Norm was a resident of Canyon Lake for the past 18 years.
He graduated from high school in Moose Lake, Minnesota. He then served in the Navy as a First Class Electronic Technician Radar Specialist in World War II and the Korean War. He served on two navel ships, the North Carolina BB55 and the Cruiser Los Angeles.
Norm attended Wright Junior College and went on to attend Texas A & M, where he majored in electronics. He enjoyed a career working for Burroughs, IBM, Applied Magnetics and was president of Diceon Electronics. He also enjoyed a side business as a Realtor and had his own business as a manufacturing representative for Nera, Inc.
Norm and his wife, Elsie, met in 1946 and were married on September 18, 1948. They enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage and had three children, Greg, Nancy and Lori. Their family grew to include seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family enjoyed waterskiing, camping and traveling in their RV. Norm and Elsie have traveled the world, enjoying many cruises and tours of Europe.
According to his family, Norm’s lifetime goals were to practice his Christianity, to be a good husband and provider for his family, to be loving, kind, considerate, helpful, understanding and loyal, to achieve success in life and on the job and to have financial success. Norm succeeded many times over in fulfilling all of his goals. He had a reputation of honesty and integrity and his faith in God was evident in all aspects of his life. He was so very loved by his family and friends, who say, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Canyon Lake Community Church or any charity of choice.
