Oil painting class The POA will sponsor an oil painting class led by Rita Forand on Sunday, September 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. The Canyon Lake resident has already taught two other classes this summer. A Bob Ross-certified instructor, Rita will demonstrate how to paint the above painting step-by-step. Her goal is for students to discover the joy of painting and go home with a finished painting in just one three-hour session. Fee for the class is $60, payable in advance at Member Services. Class is limited to the first 12 students who register. There is nothing for students to bring to the class – just come and paint, have fun and go home with a finished 16x20 oil painting. Rita will offer one class each month, teaching a different scene each time. For more information, call Rita at 751-0988. Boot camp adds evening class “Canyon Lake Beach Boot Camp” is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 6 to 7 a.m. at Sunset Beach. Starting Monday, September 13, it also will be held Monday and Wednesday, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Holiday Harbor. The cost is $60 for 18 sessions, payable at Members Services. Total Commitment Instructor Leslie Kahn says these classes are for anyone wanting a personal challenge and aren't limited to any shape, size, age or gender. Participants go at their own pace. A mat or towel is needed. "Mix it up – go two or three days a week to morning or night or both," says Leslie. "You can take a break and come back, or you can start getting ready for the holidays. This time, give yourself the present. Way before Christmas do something for you for a change! All we want these days is to be healthy and live the best life we can. So come down and see if this is what you've been looking for." For more information, visit www.totalcommitmentfitness.com or call Leslie at 775-2527.
