Fitness Committee members Val Grillo, Paul David, Karin Cassidy, Stephen Bustos, Ronale Rhodes and Leslie Kahn, above, are excited and working hard to prepare for the inaugural "Fit Community" Run/Walk in January. They need to get an idea how much participation to expect, as well as enlist volunteers for this community-wide event. They are requesting residents preregister as early as possible. The following is a message from the committee.

Don't delay, sign up today for 'Fit Community' Run/Walk

     Have you signed up yet for the inaugural “Fit Community” 5K run/walk and/or 10K run on Saturday, January 22? Early-bird registration is discounted $5 per entry. That’s just $25 for each participant in the 5K and $20 for each participant in the 10K. Plus, those who sign up as a team of five or more people will get another $5 off per entry. See registration form in this issue.
     Registrants receive a goodie bag filled with free merchandise from sponsors, a T-shirt, opportunity tickets for prizes and giveaways, and post-race refreshments. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in the 5K and 10K, and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division. Kids participating in the 1K Fun Run will receive a finisher’s ribbon.
     The inaugural Fit Community event is one you won’t want to miss! In addition to the 5K run/walk, 10K run, 1K Fun Run, there will be a health fair, food booths and entertainment. The event is open to all residents and their guests, including children, adults and wheelchair athletes. Registration forms are available at the Canyon Lake POA Member Services office, as well as photobucket.com/home/clfitcommunity.
