Arts and Entertainment
Arts, entertainment and activities in and around Canyon Lake.
Arts and Entertainment: 'California Suite'
The Canyon Lake Theatre and Performing Arts Association (CLCTPA) invites Canyon Lakers to “check in” and spend a delightfully funny evening of theater with the Broadway and movie smash comedy, “California Suite.” The curtain will rise on the four-scene, two-act play on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, at 7 p.m. The Saturday evening event will have a dinner-theater option as well.
Movie Reviews by Reel People: 'Fast Five'
“Fast Five” features bold personalities, over-the-top action, fast women and faster cars. It has everything a “gearhead” wants – all in one movie. In the fifth of the “Fast and Furious” series, one of the characters says it best, “This just went from Mission: Impossible to Mission: In-freaking-sanity.” It also has kind of a story. Come on, we do have standards.
Letter: Public safety
We live in one of the safest cities . . . for now!
Letter: Unpleasant election
I’ve had it! Does anyone remember a more unpleasant election environment? One “group” of candidates bash Haggerty, Neigel and McDonald for advocating change. Has anyone noticed how ugly their tactics are?
Letter: Walk ruined
Mark Twain is quoted as saying “golf is a walk ruined.” Mark Twain never walked the Canyon Lake Golf Course, which, with so much ground under repair or just dirt, would ruin even the walk.
Letter: Done with signs
Clean up the blight. Is anyone else here done with the perpetual campaign signs lining our streets? They are unsightly and totally out of control.
Letter: 'Under the Tuscan Sun'
What another spectacular Woman’s Club fashion show, “Under the Tuscan Sun,” was held last Friday at the Lodge. A huge “thank you” to Marlene Marich for chairing and Bonnie Miller for co-chairing this annual event. Everything was absolutely beautiful, including the day!
Letter: False allegation
The allegation that I have somehow been associated with a “scheme” to impact the outcome of this election is false.
Letter: Campaign strategy
I have lived here in Canyon Lake for a long time. Recently a police report was released to the public that clearly showed something is wrong in Canyon Lake.
Letter: Difference in attitude
We had an old flag we wished to have properly disposed of and contacted the City. We were curtly told, “We don’t do that.” On prior times, the City took the flags and had a program with a scout troop to perform the ceremony.
Letter: Of signs and volunteers
One is the POA election process is waaaaaay too long and the clutter and mess it creates is completely unnecessary.
Letter: Special Enforcement Officers
On December 21, after being advised to close Goetz Rd. over Salt Creek by Senior Special Enforcement Officer Pat Colleary, the City Manager made the decision not to close the road.
Letter: Measure E
The Colleary proposal for a city fire department is full of holes. Where is the trained hazmat team? The dispatch department? How will we pay for insurance, training, air support for grass fires in the BLM and arson investigations?
Letter: Public safety
Please join me in supporting our public safety services in Canyon Lake. The passing of Measure E will allow us to retain our police and fire services at the current standard.
