What a celebration!

Called the best fireworks show ever, the thousands of people who flocked to Canyon Lake for the 4th of July were not disappointed. The nonstop explosions, here caught on camera by Diana Castillo, lasted 20 minutes. Additional photos can be seen in collages here, as well as in videos posted on The Friday Flyer's Facebook page. The fireworks were the grand finale to a weekend of fun in the sun at parks, pools, beaches and many residents' backyards. A surprise mid-afternoon thunderstorm on the 4th sent a few scurrying to shelter; but, for the most part, it just added to the fun. Several people sent photos - something The Friday Flyer always welcomes!

According to Canyon Lake weatherman Pat Elliano, the Monday afternoon deluge dropped .79 inches of rain in about 20 minutes.
