Movie Reviews by Reel People: 'Conan the Barbarian'
Life is too short to watch bad movies. Oh, it’s possible if in the right mood, this brutally sadistic remake of Ah-nuld’s 1982 “Conan the Barbarian” could be a guilty pleasure. But if it depends where you draw the line; how about Iraq? Sure, Jason Momoa is pumped up and his “awms” are “veddy lawge,” but you’ll see better flicks on MST 3000.

Day Tripping with Mary: Ready for fun? Try a taste of beer and zip lining
I first became aware of Craft Brewing Company when I saw their booth at Fiesta Day. No one was at the booth, so I wrote down the name and looked to the Internet for more information.

Notes from the Road: Finding imagination along roads traveled
I believe that a yearning for artistic expression has been a human constant from the beginning. Evidence of this is everywhere – on the walls of caves, in the halls of castles and on freeway overpasses. Trudge along any ancient Indian trail and, at certain landmarks or crossings, you will find hieroglyphics scratched into the rocks.

Teen Talk: Leaving the comfort zone, heading to college
Ever since the ending of senior year I thought leaving for college would be no big deal. When I would watch seniors from previous years graduate and become emotional as they were college bound, I just did not get it. Why would they not be happy to leave and start something new? Finally, in my last week of living at home, I get it.

Letter: RRC Rd. widening
I wholeheartedly agree with John Basse and Hugh Wagoner on their views concerning the widening of Railroad Canyon Rd. Why is there this need to seek out ways to spend the City’s money? Can’t we have just a few years without streets torn up and all the other inconveniences of road building?

Letter: RRC Rd. a raceway
I am in total agreement with the letter written by John Basse and Hugh Wagoner as published in the August 19 issue.

Letter: Keep reducing fees
In the recent election of officials for Canyon Lake, I personally voted for the three new officials who were elected. The new “Three,” in their principle campaign statements, were very sound and reasonably predicted improvements in eliminating the many past years of excessive and erratic wasting of Canyon Lakers’ monthly fees paid.
